Financial and credit literacy starts at home. However, many people do not have access to proper information and tools to teach these skills.
ScoreNavigator recently started a ScoreNavigator Financial Literacy Scholarship to award high school juniors and seniors who come from a low-income background and have a 3.0 GPA or higher. Many young individuals fall into financial traps by not making proper choices with regards to their finances and credit. Personal finance is an important skill and helps prepare young people for a better tomorrow. In order to encourage future generations of youth to make smart financial decisions, we decided to start a scholarship fund that could help the winning students with their academic endeavors.
To apply, students are to write about their personal financial experiences and how they plan to use their financial education to better their future. Each winner will receive $1000.
We are happy to announce the 5 winners of this scholarship:
1st Place: Angelica Chavez-Downes
2nd Place: Eliron Rosin
3rd Place: Jason Carroll
4th Place: Lane Molsbee
5th Place: Ellayna Kirkwood
We will be posting their essays in the next couple of blog posts. Stay tuned!
